Exhibition of my students work

Anyone out there interested in being inspired by textile art created by West-Cheshire, City & Guilds of London students? We are holding an exhibition at the Castle Park Arts Centre in Frodsham, Cheshire WA6 6SE. The artwork is on display from 5th August to the 14th September 09. Check out the web site for the Arts Centre for opening times http://www.castleparkarts.co.uk/ See here some of the exhibits.

Stitched Garden in a box - Watch my garden grow

This is the beginning of a lengthy project which I am developing with my leisure course students. We are on holiday at the moment but I will however be producing more work on the box. The pictures you see are of a stylised hydrangea done in stumpwork and stitched on to a machine embroidery background with the foundation of neutral coloured linen. This will form the lid. Follow my developments over the next few months to see how it matures.

I teach technique but it's my students that impress

I realised years ago that I got great pleasure in encouraging others to explore, Creative Stitch Techniques and I am constantly amazed at the creativitity and initiative that my students demonstrate in their finished work. I have selected a few items to show just what can be achieved

A holiday/course in France

I got the offer of doing some teaching in France in 2009 and me, not being one to turn down any new challenge, I have accepted. It's great because its not necessarily all going to be "textile talk", running alongside my course will be a group, there for woodturning. What with that and visitors exploring the local area, there should be plenty of chit-chat. You can get all the details from the flyer above. It also gives contact details.

This is my "Iris" tryptique, each piece is 102 x 26cm. Fabric/paper, acrylic paints, gilding, kunin felt and sheer fabrics, machine stitched with metallic threads and cut out with soldering iron.

. . .this exhibit is a piece of needlepunch felt on a hessian background, measuring 58 x 156cm.
inspired by the paintings of Monet
I recently exhibited at Heswall, Wirral with a couple of other Textile Designers which created considerable interest. I've attached some photographs of some of my exhibits.
